Shortly after their marriage in 1653/4, they purchased land atBarnstable, next to Henry Cobb's land of this genealogy. Joshua was one of the "south sea men." (Took residence south of Barnstable). She was given "3 acres of upland and meadow land in the common field" in her father will. The will of her husband makes mention of her as: "unto Abigail myloving wife three Cowes and one mare to be at her owne dispose for ever and ye use …of a dwelling house which I have already paid for ye building during her Natural Life and ye use …of all my Lands during her Natural life." He goes on to say: "un to sd Abigail my wife all my household stuff ….. during her Natural Life and five pounds a year in current pay one third part therof in money to be paid by my executor …. during her Natural Life."
