The will of John Hamblin was dated on Jan. 3, 1714 and proven on March8, 1717/18. As his wife preceded him in death, he named only his children in the will. His personal estate was valued at £168, 0s, 8d.
John Hamblen was a farmer, residing at "Hamblin Plain" named for hisfamily at West Barnstable. Besides being a large landowner, John owned two tenement houses at Indian Pond and on at Coopers Pons. Both John and Sarah were members of the Barnstable Church, she being a member early in life but John avoiding it until his later years.
