Sarah Jenney, at a very young age, was brought to Plymouth,Massachusetts by her parents. She lived here for a time after her marriage, but in about 1674, removed to Dartmouth, Massachusetts, where, like her mother and brothers Samuel and John, received a land grant.
The people of Dartmouth were forced to flee the town in 1675, becauseof attacks by the Indians of King Philip. Dartmouth was a new settlement, sparsely populated and scattered, being difficult to defend, making it easy prey for the warring Indians who eventually completely destroyed it. It was three years before any rebuilding was attempted.
