MONACA - Edward S. Robitz Sr., 80, of Monaca, passed away Tuesday
afternoon, March 21, 2006, at The Medical Center, Beaver, where he
had been a patient for the past week.
A native of Monaca, Mr. Robitz was born on May 15, 1925, and was a
son of the late John and Sarah (Leitschaft) Robitz. He was a
graduate of Monaca High School and Geneva College, Beaver Falls. Ed
was a World War II veteran, having served as an aviation cadet
assigned to Squadron W 370th Army Air Force Base Unit, in Amarillo,
Texas. Included in his duties was to fly abroad the military's B-29s
as a flight navigator.
A research chemist, Mr. Robitz had spent the majority of his working
career with St. Joe Mineral's Corp., in Potter Township. He was
later employed with Gulf Research and retired from Chevron Research,
in Richmond, Calif. He was a member of the Marion Hill Christian and
Missionary Alliance Church, Daugherty Township.
He leaves his wife of 57 years, Grace L. (Henry) Robitz, to whom he
was united in marriage on Nov. 20, 1948; a son, Edward S. Robitz
Jr., and his wife, Sandra, Canton, Ohio; three daughters, Cynthia L.
Hogue and her husband, James, Port St. Lucie, Fla.; Diane L. Kaern
and her husband, Michael, Mountain View, Calif., and Lisa A. Barber
and her husband, Nathan W., Chippewa; seven grandchildren, Rachel
and Michael Robitz; Anissa, Amber, Autumn Joy, and James Jr. Hogue,
and Nathan Barber Jr., and two brothers, John Robitz, Monaca, and
Henry Robitz, in Florida.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother,
William Robitz.
Friends will be received today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the
SIMPSON FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca,
(724-775-0926). Friends may also call on Friday from 10:30 a.m.
until time of service at 11:30 a.m., at the Marion Hill Christian
and Missionary Alliance Church, 4510 Rochester Road, Daugherty
Township. Ed's pastor, the Rev. James J. Krouse, will officiate.
Interment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.
